The city is known for its beautiful white downtown houses. Plaza 25 de Mayo is the heart of Sucre, surrounded by the Cathedral, the office of the regional government, the Alcaldía, the historic Casa de la Libertad, as well as a swag of restaurants and bars. The traditional Spanish architecture downtown can still be enjoyed to this date. Beautiful colonial architecture abounds with many original buildings still intact.
